From Sangha member Graeme:

Looking out into space can evoke feelings of awe and wonder, but so too can looking into our own bodies. This programme describes how our bodies are like mini planets, colonised by vast communities of microbes which we exchange with each other and with the environment. Two stand-out statistics which stuck in my mind: for every human cell in our bodies there are ten times as many microbial cells, and in a fifth of a tea spoon of saliva there are about 100 million bacteria!

Thanks Graeme!

The Mind's Buddha

Trying to find a Buddha or enlightenment is like trying to grab space. Space has a name but no form. It's not something you can pick up or put down. And you certainly can't grab it. Beyond this mind you'll never see a Buddha. The Buddha is a product of your mind. Why look for a Buddha beyond this mind?

Warm Heart, Clear Mind

Pema Chödrön, Photo: Awake is good.com

It's as if everyone who has ever been born has the same birthright, which is enormous potential of warm heart and clear mind. The ground of renunciation is realizing that we already have exactly what we need, that what we have already is good.

Our next meeting will is this Sunday, the 21st April when Vari McLuskie will be visiting us and talking about the three Dharma Seals. We hope that everyone can make it and newcomers are always welcome.

If you have not meditated before, please feel free to arrive a few minutes early so that we can walk you through it. As always, as long as you can sit, stand or lie down and breathe - then you can meditate!!! =D

We hope to see you there!!! =D
